Let's Get Physical!

Hello Blissfully Miller readers, I'm Tonya! I want to first thank Jessica for allowing me to visit and be a guest on her blog and share some awesome fitness tips and information with you! As a mom of three children (including a set of twins) I KNOW how difficult it can be to first of all find time to go to the gym and shed baby weight or just additional pounds that you may have had for a while and just haven’t been able to get rid of! EEEEKKK! 

                    
My fitness journey started 3 years ago roughly about a year after I had my twins. Since I didn’t have a ton of time to physically go to the gym, I pressed play on my first P90X at home workout video and never looked back! Honestly, I’ve never had any trouble with being a big person due to genetics, but I KNEW I wasn’t in shape and I had gained some additional pounds after my twins!! With kids, I realized it was tough to get to the gym 3-4 times per week, so I took to RevAbs and P90X workouts that I could do right in the comfort of my own home while the kids were asleep! NO EXCUSES! I was working out maybe a couple times per week with the videos and TRYING to watch what I was eating, but It wasn’t until after I had my 3rd child in 2012, that I completely altered my diet and committed to a healthy and fit lifestyle. 6 weeks after having my last child, I went back into my fitness routine 6 weeks later (was cleared by my doctor of course) doing probably more cardio (kickboxing and abs) than anything to shed those pounds I had gained during my pregnancy. I stayed away from “trendy diets”, “pills” or “easy fixes” because those things are only temporary and you’re more likely to slip back into old habits. My current workout regime includes working out AT LEAST 5 times per week, in which you need to do about this frequently in order to see a REAL CHANGE in your body. I like to switch up my workouts with different group fitness classes such as spin, Barre, Pilates, kickboxing and resistance and cardio training at the gym, that way you give different muscles a chance to work! In addition to that, the best thing I ever did was get a fitness accountability partner (my husband!) and completely changed EVERYTHING that I was doing that was effecting my body negatively! My husband now holds me accountable for sticking to my daily workouts and helping me stick to clean eating!

With this change in lifestyle came my desire to motivate and inspire my fellow mommies, friends and family struggling with weight issues to become healthier, fit and essentially live longer! My husband and I created HisHer FitLife in June of 2013! Our Facebook page and website is committed to helping individuals and couples change their lives and improve their health through healthy eating and an active lifestyle! Our mission is encourage couples to work out together as well as individuals with their friends! On our website/page we share fitness tips, offer newsletters and also offer at home workout programs in addition to healthy and nutritional foods that will assist with burning that stubborn fat!
Which is actually one of the topics we discuss most, is how to burn off that fat that is SO hard to get rid of!! I probably get asked this question AT LEAST once per day!! And the answer is NOT what you would think! We can do 1,000 crunches, but that won’t MELT fat, it’ll only build onto the muscle that we have buried underneath. There is so much more that we need to consider in order to lose that fat:
1). HIIT Intervals or Cardio!
2). Remove sugar from your diet
3). Eat more protein!
4) WATER, WATER, WATER
4). Sleep
5). Eat!
The great thing about these tips is that it not ONLY applies to those frustrated mommies, but also to those who have struggled with trying to shed that extra tummy weight! Remember, belly fat isn’t something that can be spot reduced with fad diets and certain exercises. Instead, as part of healthy eating regimen and workout routine, these simple steps can help you zap stubborn belly fat faster and get the lean, sexy core that you’ve always wanted.

Wednesday's Wish List!

Happy hump day! I don't know about y'all, but I'm definitely ready to transition into Fall, even though it's still 90+ degrees in good ole TX! You would never know based on the lovely items on my wish list, though!

I could live in UGGS - literally. I have the standard UGGs in chestnut, but they are so worn out. I'm in desperate need of new ones and these have my name all over them! I'm still not sure which color I want... it's between the black and gray. Help me choose! 

I've had my eye on this Michael Kors Hamilton tote for what feels like forever {it's only been 2-weeks}. What can I say?! I've got the "I want a new purse" monkey on my back and she's not going anywhere until this baby is MINE! I mean, just look at the color...

I always get super dry skin in the winter, so I want to get a Clarisonic to better cleanse. I'm hoping my moisturizer will set better... Thoughts?

I have been wanting rain boots for a solid 3-years now and I kick myself every time it rains because I could be rockin' these cuties! I will get them this year.

This polish! I just saw it come across my Pinterest feed and knew I had to get this.. like this week. I might head to Ulta today at lunch. It's not only the perfect fall color, but its name is Dallas as in the city I was born and raised {and still live in} - enough said.

Wednesday Randoms: 
- I've been extra inspired to get some DIY projects done around the house - so stay tuned to in the upcoming weeks! There's a headboard, photo wall, more stripes and a dining room reveal...

- Tyler surprised me with a trip to Aruba this past Friday! We will be in paradise for 10 days and I cannot wait! No work, phones or stress... just pure relaxation!

- I am so overwhelmed by the amazing friends I have made through my little blog. We text weekly, if not daily, and I can truly say that these ladies will be life-long friends.

- Family time can rejuvenate the soul. We celebrated my dad's 60th birthday on Saturday and it was just quality time between my parents, Tyler and I.. much needed!

-  I received something very sentimental this past weekend, which makes my heart so happy.



Let's get past the hump and get to the freaking weekend! :)

Taste of Tuesday: My Favorite Salad!

Happy Tuesday! This is my absolute new favorite salad!! We had dinner at our friends house a few weeks ago and Kristen made this salad! SO healthy and so, so good! Since then I've probably made this salad about 6 times. It's the perfect combination of flavors with the feta, grapes and dressing! Kristen's definitely my go-to for great {and healthy} recipes!! :)

Ingredients:
- Spinach & Arugula mix salad
- Feta Cheese
- Grapes (halved)
- Lemon Juice
- Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper


Dressing Directions:
In a small dish, mix the following well:
- 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice
- 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 10 Twists of Fresh Ground Pepper
- 4 Twists of Sea Salt

Place about 6-7 grapes (halved) and feta cheese on top of your lettuce. Drizzle the dressing on top and mix well with tongs. Enjoy!!

Taste of Tuesday: Love for Dove!


Happy Tuesday, loves! Tyler went Dove hunting over Labor Day weekend and I was so excited for him to get home with the goods! Last year he went hunting and gave all his dove to a client. He knew better this time and came home with over 15! I love to stuff them with jalapenos and cream cheese and then wrap them in bacon! SO good!

Ingredients: 
- Dove Breasts
- Bacon
- Cream Cheese
- Jalapenos
- Toothpicks

Directions:
1. Chop the Jalapenos
2. Lay out bacon and cut in half
3. Butterfly the dove breasts
4. Set out cream cheese and toothpicks
5. Place jalapeno and cream cheese on the butterflied dove breast
6. Fold closed
7. Wrap in bacon tightly
8. Secure with toothpick
9. Grill to your liking
10. ENJOY!!

Weekend Update x 2!

How is it already Monday?! The past couple of weeks have been a blur and I didn't get around to doing a Labor Day weekend recap, so I'm combining 2 weekend recaps in this post!

Labor day weekend was very low-key. It was opening dove season in the south zone, so Tyler was in Houston doing a weekend hunt with friends. Whitney and I were up super early on Saturday and headed to Canton, since it was the first weekend of the month! It was so HOT! So ice cream and snow cones were a must! Here are my finds, which I got for a steal! The fall piece was only $20 bucks and I got the 'Love you More' sign for $5! This sign is super special, since that's what my grandpa used to tell me. Can't wait to hang it!!

Throughout Tyler's hunts he wold send me pictures.. my favorite caption was the group picture where he called themselves the Dove Commander. Can you tell we are Duck Dynasty lovers?!

Whitney and I also went to Kendra Scott, since everything in store was 20% off for Labor Day! I went a little cray cray, but I love all of my purchases!! Especially the necklace! :)
I also bought this shadow box and cute little elephant. Can't wait to show you the project I have planned for the shadow box.. it's from Pinterest!!

This weekend was extremely productive! Tyler and I ran errands all day Saturday and then had dinner at our friends house. They have an Egg grill, which is awesome! It adds the best flavor to food! Sunday we visited with family and relaxed at the house AND watched the Cowboys win!

Thirsty Thursday: Sparkling Wine!

I stumbled upon this wine at one of our favorites sushi restaurants on New Years Eve a few years back and it's been my favorite sparkling wine ever since! The taste is perfect.. not too sweet and not too bitter and I just love the bubbles! And how could you not fall in love with the name {Risque}, bottle and the cute stopper?! Win-win. Stop everything you're doing and get this now! It will make you happy, happy, happy - promise.
